Can you answer Debra R’s question about Cruises?:

My husband and I are going on a 14 day cruise to the southern caribbean which includes the islands of st.lucia.antigua,st kitts, tortola, montego bay jam, grand cayman, aruba, bonaire, caracus venez, and grenada. Has anyone been to these islands? What is the best thing to do? beach, hiking or shopping? Any worries about safety? Any advice would be great. Please let me know the good or the bad exp. you had on any of these destinations.

Cruises Feedback: Go to CruiseCritic.com, click on “Boards” at the top of the page, then go to “Ports of Call” and find your ports. You’ll get lots of great info from experienced cruisers.

Some of your ports will be easy to do on your own [Grand Cayman, Aruba], others not so much [Jamaica, especially MoBay!] or Caracas.

Cruises Feedback: It is very safe on a cruise…Go with others when you are in port.

You will be give places of interest on the cruise.

Check your itinerary, I do not believe the Southern Caribbean cruise goes to Jamaica.

Never had a bad experience on a cruise..except maybe I ate too much!

    Enjoy!

Cruises Feedback: These are the places I’ve been:
Tortola- an absolutely beautiful island. Very steep hills, pretty beaches, and gorgeous views of the surrounding islands. When you get off the cruise ship there will be tons of open air buses to take you around. And they’re CHEAP. I think we paid $15 a person for 3 hour tour and hour long stop at Cane Garden Bay Beach.

Antigua- very pretty beaches here, but different type of island. Very dry. Some cactus even. There’s a place called the Pineapple Resort where you can stay as a guest for the day for $45. Includes all you can eat and drink. Great relaxing day if you choose to go there. The town is cute too- lots of shopping.

Grand Cayman- stay on the ship. We found nothing but jewelry stores and banks. Wasn’t worth waiting to tender to the island (no dock). But lots of pirates, if you’re into that :)
    Have a great time!
